TO ALL JG AK-47 OWNERS: This is the JG AK-47 thread. Post ANYTHING about the gun here. Good things, bad things, internal mods, external mods, tuning, ANYTHING!
I had always had a hankarin’ for an AK-47 in my armory, but like many others, didn’t want to shell out $300 plus for the TM. I started looking at alternatives. Of course, every one is thinking about the fantastic AK on a budget: the CM028. I thought about it. To tell you the truth, looking back on it, I probably should have saved a little more for it. It would have been perfect: upgradeable metal gearbox (so I can practice messing up before I do it on my real AEGs), nice stock performance, and to round it out, stunning looks. But, I am a bit of an impulse buyer and in the matter of a day, I had $75 from various chores and what not. Like all young people, and some old, it was burning a major hole in my pocket. I decided to get the JinGong AK-47. I had read many a review on this gun and new it was a great little LPEG, and it also had great looks. After looking on www.airsoft128.com, I was set: JG AK, here I come.
Now, this isn’t a review, but an all-encompassing thread. I know a lot of LPEG people have the JG AK, and a lot look at it for a decent LPEG. This thread is here to give all sorts of facts about the JG AK. I will post my initial thoughts and performance data in a mini review of sorts.
So, off we go into the wonderful world of the JG AK-47:
I will try to keep it short.
First impressions/Build/Feel/Appearance:
Heavy. As soon as the clerk at the Upland Jungle Toy handed it to me, I noticed its weight. According to my bathroom scale, it is approximately 6.5 pounds. Not bad for an LPEG. I also noticed the great wood externals, I really like‘em.
Shooting/operation:
The gun shoots great for a $70 (well I got it for $60 because the guy at JT must have been tired) LPEG. First off, the battery is pretty decent. The manual says it is an 8.4 volt 700 mah battery. Not bad. The charger is 200 mah, so charge time should be about 3.5 hours (700 divided by 200). However, after 3.5 hours, the battery wasn’t all to warm. I let it go about 4 hours 15 minutes, and that felt about right. The battery slides right in the stock between the foam. Nice fit.
Shooting: Down to the good part. This gun shoots amazing for its price. I was hitting a soda can on its side (a very small target by the way) at 60 feet about 1 in 5 shots. This may not sound good, but the target is very small. I would see no problem in hitting a decent size (human torso) at ranges of 60-70 feet, maybe more. Also, I am no sharp shooter and this was my first day with the gun. Overall I thought it was great. The ROF was impressive as well. With the stock battery, full charged, it hit 11 rounds per second. I measured ROF using my compute mic, and the program Audacity. It is an accurate measure. With a 9.6volt it got up to 14 rounds per second, pretty damn nice if I may say so myself.
Conclusion:
For $70, you can’t go wrong with this gun. It looks great, performs great, and wont break your budget. Perfect for backyard games, spring/LPEG wars, and maybe in a gas gun war. With 11 rounds per second and hitting targets at 60 feet, you will get some kills.

The video was hard to film. Sorry you can't really see the BBs, but it was the best I could do by myself. My target was a small dog dish with 4 soda cans around it. Every time you here a small *tink* hit hit the target. The target was abou 6 square inches at most. Also, it was extremly hard to aim, nearly inpossible. I couldn't use the sights becuase the camera was sitting on the stock to get a good shot. How I managed to hit the target at all, I don't know. The gun pretty much aimed itself

Well…my ranting is done. I hope I didn’t bore you all and turn you away from this thread. If you’re still reading, thank you.
Now, I open this thread to all JG AK users. What have you done to your gun? Show us here! Tell us here! If you have modded in any way, internal or external, let us know. Tell us how your specific model is. Any quarks? Tell us the bad too. Help these newcomers make an informed decision.
Thank you all for taking time to read my thread.
